Heya! So here’s a question- Don’t you love beaches? Like all the water, sand, fun and sun. Well, the last bit, sun, do you know the reason you enjoy the warm rays of the sun? It is the Ozone Layer! It stops you from just sizzling up like a brownie in the sun’s rays. The reason I am talking about the Ozone layer cus there is a huge problem!
But first, we need to understand what is the Ozone layer and why is it important. So, for starters, the Ozone layer is this nice, kind little sheet that sits in the Stratosphere and has agreed to protect us. What I mean is that the sun sends out super harmful and scorching hot rays called ultraviolet rays and without the Ozone layer bocking the harmful rays and letting the good rays in, we would be toast, literally! It acts like a personal bodyguard for our planet. Time to understand what is the problem? In the 1970s, scientists discovered that the Ozone layer was being depleted. Temperature, weather, latitude and altitude and substances ejected by natural events such as volcanic eruptions can affect ozone levels. However, these natural phenomena could not explain the levels of depletion observed and scientific evidence revealed that certain man-made chemicals were the cause. Ozone depletion is greatest at the South Pole. It occurs mainly in late winter and early spring (August-November) and peak depletion usually occur in early October, when ozone is often destroyed in large areas. There is a huge hole mostly in the Antarctic region. It is one of the major causes of Global Warming since the “Ozone Hole” allows harmful ultraviolet rays in through its hole. Now, this is a big problem cus it can make Global Warming worse and practically make the planet like Venus, not suitable for life. Its causes are primarily the pollution we as humans make, the smoke emitted from our vehicles, industries and more. The only way I can think of to reduce the size of the hole is to reduce pollution. Thanks for giving me time and reading this blog post. Be Safe and Have a Good One and I am out! Sorry if any mistakes have occurred or I sound rude. 😉 #PatchTheOzoneHole! #NoVisitsToTheBeachesThen #TooWarmToLive Sources- https://ec.europa.eu/clima/eu-action/protection-ozone-layer_en
