How’s it going ya all? Well you might be scratching your head as to why in the world is the topic something like that, right? Well, the rivers ARE actually crying. If you live in a big city like say… Pune or Mumbai then I would suggest looking into the rivers. Most of the time you would look away in disgust and I don’t blame you cus that is actually the condition our rivers are in. I mean like come on… The rivers are always gross and full of plastic (Sometimes I feel there is more plastic in the rivers than the actual water itself, what do you think about it?). Should it be like this? Can we make the situation better? Just think about it. We have our future generations to inspire, for them to have clean water to drink, for them to have fun looking at the clean and rushing water. Not only for them but also for us youngsters to enjoy all of this, don’t we? To stop our beautiful and graceful rivers from turning into gutters we need to restrain ourselves from throwing ANYTHING into the rivers.
“The biggest threats to the existence of rivers are big dams, canal diversions, hydropower projects and pollution.” This is an article I found on the internet. It clearly says that the biggest threat to rivers are big dams, canal diversions. It says so because- a) Dams don’t allow the rivers to flow freely which makes the river water stagnant. What if someone trapped you in a cage and controlled you, didn’t allow you to roam freely? Exactly! Similar thing happens to the river. So I highly suggest not to build any dams. Let the flow be. b) Canal Diversions on the other hand alter natural habitat. Which means that the migratory fishes and birds lose their way since they follow the river and get confused on canal diversions. It’s like you are in a new place and someone tells you the wrong way to your house/destination. So a no no to canal diversions. c) They fragment the rivers reducing their soluble oxygen supply and making them dead rivers. d) Pollution is talked about everywhere, so many of us already know how harmful it is. Firstly it may get stuck in some animals resulting in death of them or animals may eat the plastic thinking that they are full eating food of no nutritional value and ultimately dying from starvation. Thanks for giving me time and reading this. Next topic’s hint is D_ _D R_ _V_R_. Be Safe and Have a Good One and I am out! Sorry if any mistakes have occured or I sound rude. 😉 -Neev
